Fallen Leaf Lake Community Services District

For Emergencies, Call 911

On September 29, 2025, I had the honor of joining the Fallen Leaf Lake Community Services District (CSD) as Interim General Manager. It is easy to understand why so many people hold this community close to their hearts. The area’s natural beauty, abundant outdoor recreation opportunities, and the high-quality services provided by the CSD make Fallen Leaf Lake a truly special place to call home.

My wife and I are full-time residents of Incline Village and have owned property in the Tahoe Basin for approximately 14 years. During that time, we have enjoyed countless hikes throughout the basin, including Desolation Wilderness and the Fallen Leaf area. These experiences have deepened our appreciation for the importance of protecting our natural resources while ensuring that residents and visitors can continue to enjoy the Tahoe region responsibly.

As we know, change is a constant. While the Fallen Leaf Lake CSD has benefited from remarkable stability over the past 15 years, the District is now entering a period of transition. I have known Chief Gerren professionally for approximately nine years and have met Director Hart previously, and I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to both for their leadership and dedicated service to the Fallen Leaf Lake community.

Like many local government organizations, the District faces ongoing challenges, particularly as operating costs continue to rise faster than revenues. Addressing these issues will require open communication with the community and, at times, difficult decisions. However, based on my early observations of District staff and your elected Board of Directors, I am confident that we will work through these challenges together with transparency, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the long-term vitality of Fallen Leaf Lake.

I look forward to meeting more members of the community in the months ahead. If you have questions, insights, or information you believe would be helpful, please feel free to contact me at dashton@fllcsd.org.

Warm regards,
Don Ashton
Interim General Manager
