If you use an eFoil, eSUP, electric wakeboard, kayak with a trolling motor, or any other hand-launched electric watercraft (HLEW), a free annual inspection is required before launching at Fallen Leaf Lake. Users must also reinspect after launching outside the Tahoe Region.
Inspections help protect Fallen Leaf Lake from aquatic invasive species. All users are asked to follow Clean, Drain, and Dry practices before and after every launch:
- Clean all equipment that touches water, dislodging any plants, mud, or sand.
- Drain all compartments and storage bags — even a single drop of water can carry invasive species.
- Dry all boards, motors, compartments, and life jackets. After cleaning and draining, 7 days of dry time significantly reduces the risk of spreading invasives.
