CAL FIRE’s Amador-El Dorado Unit has suspended all burn permits for outdoor residential debris burning (branches, leaves, etc.) within State Responsibility Areas of Alpine, Amador, El Dorado, Sacramento, and San Joaquin counties. The suspension began at 12:01am Monday, June 15, due to rising fire danger from warming temperatures, dry winds, and heavy grass growth.

Residential landscape debris burning is no longer allowed, but campfires in organized campgrounds or on private property (maintained safely) are still permitted — a campfire permit can be obtained at readyforwildfire.org/permits/campfire-permit. Restricted permits may still be issued for essential public health/safety needs, and agricultural, land management, fire training, or industrial burns may proceed with a CAL FIRE inspection and special permit.

CAL FIRE recommends residents use this time to maintain at least 100 feet of defensible space around structures, clear dead vegetation, and consider chipping or hauling debris to a green waste facility instead. More info at readyforwildfire.org.
