COMMENDATION FOR EXCEPTIONAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE

Paramedic Firefighter Louis Beyda is hereby commended for his exceptional professionalism, clinical expertise, and decisive actions while providing Advanced Life Support emergency medical care to a critical patient on August 4, 2026.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., the Fallen Leaf Lake Community Services District Fire Department was dispatched to the Angora Ridge Resort parking lot for an elderly female suffering from a reported bee sting. Paramedic Firefighter Beyda and his crew responded immediately, arriving in less than 10 minutes — 10 minutes before the next responding Advanced Life Support provider.

Upon arrival, Paramedic Firefighter Beyda rapidly recognized that the patient was experiencing a severe, life-threatening anaphylactic reaction involving multiple body systems. The patient was suffering from significant respiratory distress, swelling of the throat and airway, and dangerously low blood pressure, placing her at imminent risk of respiratory arrest and cardiovascular collapse.

Through his assessment, clinical judgment, and timely interventions, he was able to stabilize the patient. His actions significantly reduced the patient’s risk of further deterioration and death.

Multiple agencies responded, including the crew from CAL FIRE Engine 2756, the crew from Lake Valley Fire Protection District Medic 7 (Paramedic Corey Cordray and EMT Lucas Demsar), as well as FLLCSDFD Captain Cameron Anderson and FF Intern Cody Callahan. These supporting personnel are also recognized. Paramedic Firefighter Louis Beyda’s rapid assessment and decisive treatment was critical to the positive patient outcome.
