The Fallen Leaf Lake Community Services District Board of Directors held its Regular Meeting on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Community Room at 398 Fallen Leaf Rd and via Zoom.
The meeting of the Fallen Leaf Lake Community Services District focused on the district’s financial crisis, operational updates, and plans for the future. President Karen Sipprell detailed the district’s unsustainable business model, highlighting a $1 million annual funding gap and the need for philanthropic support or a potential tax increase. The board discussed the importance of fundraising efforts, with the Fallen Leaf Foundation aiming to raise significant funds to support operations. Fire Chief Chris Sauer provided an update on fire department activities, including successful community engagement in fire mitigation and the financial challenges of relying on strike team revenue. The board considered options for reducing staffing to save costs but expressed a preference for maintaining current service levels. The Parks and Recreation Ad Hoc Committee presented recommendations for a new concessionaire RFP, and the board approved hiring a consultant, MRG LLC, to assist with this process. The meeting also included reports from the concessionaire, Big Blue Hospitality, on marina operations and financial challenges. Public comments emphasized the need for sustainable solutions and community support.
